Retail bookings for fully electric vehicles (EVs) via the BookMyGarage platform more than doubled in 2025, with EV booking share increasing further in Q1 2026.

Appointments for EVs were up by 105% in 2025 compared to 2024. In 2023, EV bookings increased by 112% compared to 2022 whilst in 2024 there was a 136% leap over the year before.

Chief operating officer Toby Hughes said: “Our figures are testament to the independent sector’s determination to meet motorists’ evolving needs and garage owners’ recognition that the EV private ownership balance is tipping.

“We see this as a positive endorsement of EV ownership, especially in the used market where we would typically expect our bookings to be sourced, as well as proof that EV servicing demand is out there.

“We are confident that the EV aftersales market will continue to make inroads on our platform as motorists explore different methods of meeting their ownership requirements and as the used market develops.”

In 2022, EV bookings accounted for 0.4%; by 2023, the figure had risen to 0.7%; in 2024 – 1.5%; and last year EVs accounted for 1.9% of all bookings.

In Q1 2026, the proportion of EV bookings made up 2.95% of the total on the platform. EV bookings more than doubled (+110.3%) compared to Q1 25 and performed well against overall bookings, themselves up by almost a half (+45.5%).

EV share on the platform increased from 2.04% by +0.91%.

In Q1 2025, independent garage’s EV bookings accounted for 2% across the platform which rose again to almost 3% for the same period in 2026.

Last year, 56% of BookMyGarage independent partners who responded employed an EV qualified technician, and 14% planned to this year.

Over a third (36%) reported an increase in demand in 2025.

Just under 2 in 5 (41.9%) independent garages currently have EV bookings enabled on at least one of their active price lists on the platform.

When considering franchised workshops, EV enabled outlets make up 51.49% of all businesses on the platform.
