Grierson and Graham Honda is celebrating 50 years as a Honda car franchise in 2025.
The business, based in Dumfries, was founded in 1911 by Edward Grierson as a bicycle repair business, the company evolved rapidly following the involvement of his daughter, Jesse Graham, becoming Grierson and Graham.
Under her leadership, the business expanded from bicycles to mopeds, motorcycles and eventually cars, representing a number of prominent automotive brands over the decades.
Jesse Graham recognised the emerging quality of Honda motorcycles and began importing them directly from Japan prior to the establishment of Honda UK, laying the foundation for a long-standing relationship with the Honda brand.
In the 1970s, the third generation, Edward Graham and Margaret Mair, assumed leadership. The business was appointed a Honda car franchise in 1975, coinciding with the introduction of the first-generation Honda Civic.
During this period, the company also invested in talent, including the appointment of apprentices such as Ian Wright, who remains with the business today as Service Manager.
By the 1990s, Grierson and Graham had transitioned to become a dedicated Honda car retailer, further strengthening its partnership with the brand.
The business relocated to its current Annan Road site in 1995, and continued to invest in its facilities, culminating in the opening of a state-of-the-art showroom in 2018.
In 2014, leadership passed to the fourth generation, David Graham and Mark Harris, who continue to guide the business today.
