Autotrader has launched its app in ChatGPT, allowing its marketplace to be accessed within AI-driven search experiences and helping connect buyers with the relevant vehicle more quickly
UK consumers can search Autotrader’s used car inventory using conversational prompts before moving through to the marketplace to view listings, compare options and contact retailers.
Chris Kelly, chief technology officer at Autotrader, said: “We have successfully developed robust, scalable connectivity for AI agents, and we are thrilled our app is now available in ChatGPT to help consumers discover their next vehicle in an entirely new way.
“However, this is about much more than a single platform. Autotrader plans to utilise this exact same interface to connect with other major AI providers in the coming months.
As an increasing number of consumers use AI assistants, this infrastructure guarantees that Autotrader’s marketplace, and its retailers’ stock, remains the primary destination for automotive queries.
These AI search experiences help consumers explore and narrow down their options earlier in the journey. They are designed to complement — not replace — searching on Autotrader.
Autotrader is also testing a dedicated, prompt-based AI search experience on its own platform.
This allows buyers to type exactly what they are looking for using full sentences or keywords, and the AI automatically applies any relevant search facets and marketplace filters to match their specific query.
