Dealer Auction’s EV Performance Review (EVPR) for June reveals a standout month for alternative fuel vehicles (AFVs) as the average margin reached £3,334, the highest level since November 2024.

The average sold price rose from £13,844 to £14,237 month-on-month, further highlighting dealer opportunities. Dealers boosted the average number of bids by 10%.

Dealer Auction’s marketplace director, Kieran TeeBoon, said: “It’s been a busy spring for trade AFV movement. Interestingly, this period has also been a turning point for new AFVs.

“In June, reports showed that more new EVs were sold in the 12 months to May 2026 than petrol cars, and EVs claimed their largest monthly slice of the UK new car market so far this year.

“It’s a positive direction of travel, and one we expect to see start filtering more and more into the used market. But as stock volume increases, dealers will need to put all their experience and data to work to find those unique opportunities for profit.”

June saw the mileage settling back to the year’s norms (dropping from 41,017 to 33,622) and the average age holding steady at 5.5 years.

This remains the oldest since the EVPR launched, but the dip in mileage might suggest that the average age might start to come down as the summer progresses.

In terms of fuel percentage, AFVs held steady with around 11% of the market share.

BMW had three hybrid models secure top positions in the top 10 charts for both margin and CAP Clean performance.

The BMW X5 took the top spot for margin for the first time, joined by the X3 and 5 Series in third and fourth place respectively. These models boasted excellent CAP Clean performance – the BMW 5 Series took top spot (104%), followed by the X5 (102%) and X3 (101%).

Last month’s top performers in the top 10 margin chart – the Volvo XC40 and XC60 – dropped out, but the XC90 arrived in second place.

The Jaguar I-PACE was the only EV in the top 10.

The hybrid Nissan Qashqai was ranked first in the volume sold chart, with the fully-electric Nissan LEAF named as the only EV in that chart.
