The Mazda UK retail network aims to grow accessory sales by 60%, increasing incentives available to showroom sales staff.
The programme has been introduced to encourage salespeople to actively promote and sell Mazda accessories from floor mats, boot liners and mud flaps to roof boxes, tow bars and bicycle carriers.
Mazda Motors UK managing director, Jeremy Thomson, said: “We have identified accessory sales as a strategic opportunity for our dealer partners to achieve incremental increases in aftersales profitability, especially following the launch of the new 76-plate.
“One of Mazda’s best kept secrets is our comprehensive range of accessories, with many items costing less than the generic equivalents sold by car accessory retailers.
“Our accessories have the added attractions of being designed specifically for Mazda models and having longer warranties than those offered by third parties.”
The campaign is being underwritten by Mazda with sales staff rewarded for accessories sold with new and used car purchases.
Thomson said: “This initiative highlights the pivotal role played by sales staff when selling new and used vehicles. We are encouraging them to think laterally and talk to customers to better understand their lifestyle needs and make accessory suggestions when appropriate.
“We believe with accessories now being actively promoted by showroom teams we will see a 60% increase in sales by the end of the year, giving our dealer partners a sound foundation to further boost their profitability as they start selling three new models – the Mazda CX-5, Mazda 6e and Mazda CX-6e.”
