Volkswagen presents new ID. Polo

Volkswagen presented the new ID. Polo, the all-electric version of one of the most successful models in its history, to the world yesterday.

Prices, specification and availability for the UK will be confirmed soon.

Thomas Schäfer, Member of the Board of Management of AG, CEO of the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand and Head of the Brand Group Core, said: “The ID. Polo brings a Volkswagen bestseller into the electric age. For decades, the Polo has been part of people’s everyday lives.

“With the ID. Polo, we are making electric mobility accessible to many more people: with clear and timeless design, intuitive operation, strong quality and technologies from higher segments.

“A genuine Volkswagen just like our customers expect from us.”

The ID. Polo will be available with a new efficient front-wheel drive and in three output levels with 85 kW (116 PS), 99 kW (135 PS) and 155 kW (211 PS).

The 85 kW and 99 kW versions will be equipped as standard with a 37 kWh (net) LFP (lithium iron phosphate) version of the new high-voltage battery.

This battery can be charged from 10 to 80% in about 23 minutes at DC quick-charging stations and offers a range of up to 329 km3/4.

The 155 kW drive enables ranges of up to 454 km3 and can be charged from 10 to 80% in about 24 minutes at DC stations.

In Germany, the ID. Polo is currently available in three equipment lines – Trend (entry-level, equipped with a 90 kW DC quick-charging function), Life (comfort equipment with adaptive cruise control) and Style (top-of-the-range version with IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlights).
