The annual Vertu Land Rover Fleet & Business Golf Day raised over £1,700 for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. Elsewhere, Vertu BMW Sunderland, Vertu BMW Teesside and Vertu BMW Durham raised funds for the JPC Community Hub CIC.

Auction lots at the Golf day included tickets to a T20 game at Yorkshire County Cricket Club and the opportunity to see Niall Horan live in concert at Co-op Live.

Guest speaker, competitive open-water swimmer Nick Parkes, shared his experience of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance’s work.

Parkes was taking part in an event in 2023 when he went into cardiac arrest in the water.

Pulled unresponsive from the lake, he was given CPR before being accompanied to hospital in Sheffield by the Yorkshire Air Ambulance team, where he spent two days in a coma before undergoing a double heart bypass.

Parkes will swim the full length of Loch Ness – a distance of more than 20 miles – to raise funds.

Vertu has donated a half-day Land Rover driving experience, which will be raffled as part of his fundraising efforts.

Vertu BMW Sunderland, Vertu BMW Teesside and Vertu BMW Durham provided vehicles that were present at an annual event, organised by JPC Specialist Motorsports.

The BMW M2, BMW M3 and BMW iX3 were popular with visitors to the Vertu BMW stand, whilst Vertu BMW Motorrad Sunderland showcased a BMW S1000 RR and a BMW F900 RR.

Vertu Ducati Sunderland attended the event with a Panigale V2 S model.

Founded by Paul and Julie Connaughton after their son James was born with severe disabilities, the JPC Community Hub CIC supports individuals living with special and complex needs.

Having spent a large part of his career working in automotive – as a sales manager at Honda Stockton and then as regional manager in the North East for Supagard – Connaughton created JPC Specialist Motorsports to raise the profile of the charity, and generate extra funds to supports its work.

All profits will go back into supporting people with a range of learning, physical and sensory disabilities.

Vertu’s BMW dealerships provided Paul and James with tickets to attend the British Touring Car Championship event at Croft in September.
