NAMA reports older dealer part-ex and weak diesel challenges

By automotive-mag.com 2 Min Read

The National Association of Motor Auctions reported in June ongoing challenges for older dealer part exchanges and lower-grade stock requiring significant preparation work

It singled out Land Rover products as an area facing “continued downward pressure” while diesel vehicles remain the weakest-performing fuel type.

Overall, it said feedback from members indicated that both the car and light commercial vehicle (LCV) markets remain stable, with conversion rates holding steady and demand remaining strong for quality stock at the right age, mileage and price point.

The meeting highlighted growing confidence in electric vehicles. Battery hybrid electric vehicles (BHEVs) were reported to be performing strongly across both passenger cars and commercial vehicles, with members noting positive demand, strong conversion rates and increasing market acceptance. Attendees also agreed that positive developments within the EV sector should continue to be communicated to consumers to support confidence in the market.

Within the LCV sector, trading conditions remain steady despite increased volumes of customised vans entering the marketplace. Members reported improved conversion rates during May and June, with demand for vans remaining consistent.

NAMA will continue to monitor wholesale market performance closely and provide members with regular updates on emerging trends and market developments. Feedback from members remains an important part of this process, helping to build a comprehensive picture of trading conditions across both the car and LCV sectors.
