Mitchell Group delivered the highest profit per employee in the latest Motor Trader Top 200 Dealer Groups, ending Porsche Retail Group’s nine-year run in first place.
Mitchell, which employs 112 staff, delivered a profit per employee of £35,556. Riverside Motors was in second place with an average profit per employee of £29,655, followed by Currie Motors on £28,633, CEM Day on £27,550 and McLean & Appleton (Lithia) on £27.311.
Overall, the average profit is down on the prior year as groups grappled with prevailing winds.
“With so many of the MT Top 200 reporting a fall in pre-tax profits, it is unsurprising that the average profit per employee is down compared to last year’s edition at £5,556.
“The Top 25 for profit per employee, though, managed returns from 2.5 to 6.4 times the average,” said report complier Chris Oakham.
