BYD has unveiled the new BYD Dolphin G plug-in hybrid supermini, the first model it has designed in Europe for Europe.

The first cars, which offer a pure electric range of 65 miles and up to 646 miles on a tank of petrol, are set to go on sale to customers by autumn 2026 with prices reportedly starting at around £23,000.

The car is powered by BYD’s ‘Super Hybrid’ DM-i system. BYD said the supermini combines the zero-emissions ability of a pure EV with the ultimate long-distance flexibility of a hybrid.

BYD Executive Vice President Stella Li said: “The European B-segment is one of the most important parts of the market, and with Dolphin G DM-i, we want to redefine what customers can expect from a compact car in the electric era.

“By bringing long electric range, intelligent hybrid technology and advanced digital features into an accessible compact vehicle, we are making sustainable mobility smarter, more practical and available to many more people across Europe.”
