Big Motoring World is scaling back its Big Wants Your Car buying arm and is in talks with staff which may lead to redundancies.
It said it had implemented a “revised group-wide stock sourcing strategy” to support its 11 stores.
The group told Motor Trader: “Big Motoring World has initiated a formal consultation process with colleagues within bigwantsyourcar.com, which could lead to certain positions being made redundant.
“The consultation period began on 28 July 2026, and the company is working with those potentially impacted to explore all available options and evaluate opportunities for re-deployment where practicable.
“While the volume of stock acquired through bigwantsyourcar.com will be reduced, the bigwantsyourcar.com website will remain open, and it will continue to be an active source of used stock.”
Like most big supermarkets and dealer groups Big Motoring World buys from a number of sources, including auctions, direct from consumers through BigWantsYourCar.com website and direct supply partnerships
“As direct supply partners have become increasingly important sources of stock, Big Motoring World will reduce the number of cars acquired direct from consumers through bigwantsyourcar.com,” it said.
