Lee Castleton OBE, a victim of the Post Office-Horizon scandal, met with Kevin Mackie, director of Mackie Motors (Brechin) Limited (MMBL), in the House of Commons on Wednesday.
The two discussed their separate legal battles, Castleton with the Post Office and Mackie with his ongoing legal battle Renault, Nissan, and RCI Bank over the termination of his business in February 2022.
Matters discussed by the pair, alongside Dave Doogan MP, included dealing with large institutions, regulators and the justice system.
MMBL, a long-standing and award-winning family-owned car dealership in Scotland, was forced into a distress sale in February 2022 after Renault, Nissan, and RCI Bank cut off supply of new vehicles and parts and terminated financing arrangements.
Kevin Mackie alleges in an ongoing litigation that the manufacturers and financier acted unlawfully and on the basis of unsubstantiated allegations that the relevant authorities declined to investigate.
Renault, Nissan and RCI Deny any wrongdoing.
Kevin Mackie said: “Powerful organisations feel they can throw around baseless accusations, confident that their army of lawyers will insulate them from the consequences.
“I’d like to thank my MP Dave Doogan for facilitating this meeting, and for his tireless advocacy on my behalf. Dave is a people’s champion who isn’t afraid to speak truth to power.”
