Omoda and Jaecoo unveiled the JAECOO 7’s Super Hybrid System (SHS) with a name change for the vehicle. Previously named the JAECOO 7 PHEV, the vehicle will now be referred to as the JAECOO 7 SHS.

The vehicle, now available for purchase with UK deliveries starting from 31 January, is the first model to feature this system. The SHS ensures the battery remains charged and never drops to 0%. The JAECOO 7 SHS has a WLTP fuel efficiency of 403 mpg and a range of 745 miles.

Peter Matkin, chief engineer, JAECOO, and head of engineering for Chery Group, said: “The rapid growth of new energy vehicles is set to continue, and plug-in hybrids are a key part of this expansion around the world.

“The SHS enables an improved driving experience and better fuel economy, helped by a unique engineering solution.

“JAECOO engineers have worked tirelessly to fine-tune Chery [Group]’s CDM hybrid technology to offer a truly viable alternative to a pure electric vehicle.”

The new SUV boasts off-road ability, performance and efficiency, a stylish exterior design and a tech-rich interior.

The JAECOO 7 comes with a choice of petrol or plug-in hybrid (SHS) powertrains, priced from £29,435 and £35,065 respectively.
