Halfords is continuing to toll out its Fusion garage model. It now has 103 locations with a further 35 sites to be completed this year.
Fusion is a cross selling model that links Halford’s retail business with its garages and mobile servicing units.
The group has expanded its apprenticeship and now has 270 apprentices across Level 2 Autocare and Level 3 Light Vehicle Maintenance programmes, having taken on 167 new apprentices in FY26.
“We plan to grow this further in FY27 with a target of 250 new apprentices, including those trained in hybrid and electric vehicle maintenance,” it said.
It now has specialist EV servicing equipment in the majority of its Autocentres, increasing its ability to service fleet customers.
Beyond that it has introduced ‘margin rich’ wheel alignment to it business. The equipment is currently in around 50 of its garages and the returns seen to date have encouraged it to roll this out to a further 50 centres in 2027.
It is also introducing tablets in its garages that will support more thorough vehicle inspections and build trust and ultimately higher conversion among our customers by offering photographic evidence and support for additional work identified and recommended.

The group has launched a range of new servicing options via Halfords Mobile Expert (HME) in selected regions.
“We are monitoring this trial closely and are optimistic about the potential to drive improved returns in the HME business should we choose to scale HME servicing nationwide.”
Halfords turned in a strong performance in the year to 28 March 2026, reporting £39m pre-tax profits compared to a -£30m loss the prior year on turnover up 2.9% to £1.8bn. Its Autocentre business saw sales up 2.1% to £739.7m for the period.
