Group 1 is pushing ahead with the radical restructuring of its UK business.
The UK subsidiary of the Us dealer giant saw pre-tax losses double in 2025 to hit -£52.03m compared to £26.2m the prior year on turnover up 41% to £4.5bn, according to accounts filed at Companies House. The increase in turnover was generated by acquisitions completed in 2024.
Operating profit before restructuring and impairment costs was £38.1m (2024: £20.2m).
The UK Group made strategic decisions in respect of certain franchise relationships, including the planned termination of JLR.
In 2026 the group has generated £54m from disposals. In February this year it sold Skoda Maidstone and Volkswagen Maidstone dealerships to JCB for £2.7m.
In May it disposed of the JLR Chester, JLR Derby and JLR Preston dealerships to Lithia for £35.2m
In June, JLR Norwich went to Duckworth Motor Group and Toyota Burton dealerships for £12.6m.
In July VW Telford was sold to Amold Clark Automobiles for £3.2m. And in August it sold Audi Swindon and Volkswagen Swindon to Blade Motor Group for £0.3m.
