The MG5 was the UK’s fastest-selling used car for the second month running, with listings taking an average of 25.2 days to sell in September, according to the CarGurus Monthly Sales Snapshot.
The MG5 was followed by the Tesla Model 3, Mercedes-Benz EQA and Skoda Enyaq, with the Volkswagen ID.3, ID.4 and Hyundai IONIQ also featuring in the top 10.
Chris Knapman, CarGurus UK editorial director, said: “Rising fuel prices inevitably put the cost of running a car under greater scrutiny, so it’s notable that seven of September’s ten fastest-selling used cars were electric.
“The MG5 led the way, alongside models such as the Tesla Model 3 and Mercedes-Benz EQA, showing that demand is spread across a range of body styles and budgets.”
Seven EVs among the ten fastest-selling models on CarGurus last month left dealer lots in 31 days or less.
The trend comes as rising fuel prices, including record highs for diesel, make running costs an increasingly important consideration for motorists.
The MG5 averaged 25.2 days in stock during September, compared with 34.2 days in the same month last year, meaning it’s selling 26.3% faster in 2026. T
he Mercedes-Benz EQA saw one of the biggest improvements, with its average days to sell falling from 41.7 to 28.8 days, while the Skoda Enyaq improved from 35 to 29.6 days.
The Tesla Model 3 moved up from fourth place in August to second in September.
In September 2026, the average list price of a used Kia EV6 was 24% lower than in September 2025, while the Porsche Taycan fell 16% and the Renault Megane E-Tech dropped 15.1%.
