Auto Trader data for August reveals the used cars that gained or lost the most value over the past year.
Across all fuel types, the Porsche Boxster recorded the strongest increase, with its average price rising 20.2% to £20,922 year-on-year.
The weakest performer was the Nissan Ariya, whose average price fell -17.8% year-on-year to £23,411.
Among electric vehicles, the Renault Zoe led annual price growth, rising 11.9% to £8,899.
The Audi A6 e-tron Avant was the weakest-performing electric vehicle, with its average price falling 24.4% to £48,507. The price of the BYD Dolphin Surf declined 18.2% to £16,190.
Overall, the UK’s used car market showed signs of “underlying strength” in August, according to Auto Trader.
It said sales volumes grew across franchised, independent and car supermarket retailers for the first time this year.
The average asking price of a used car reached £17,131 in August, down 0.1% year on year and 0.4% month on month.
Used cars sold in an average of 30 days, unchanged year on year and one day faster than in July. Used car transaction volumes rose by an average of 2.6% year on year.
Marc Palmer, head of strategy and insights at Auto Trader, said: “August’s data points to a used car market with real underlying momentum.
“Prices remain stable, cars are selling quickly, and transaction volumes are growing across franchise, independent and supermarket retailers for the first time this year.
“That combination should give retailers real confidence that demand remains strong and, critically, that current retail price levels are continuing to convert into sales.”
