- Polestar’s latest model is now available in Europe.
- The Polestar 4 SUV builds upon the company’s best-selling four-door coupe.
- With wagon looks, the new Polestar 4 SUV gets a bigger trunk and a rear window.
Polestar may be on its way out in the United States, but it’s a completely different story in Europe, where the Swedish/Chinese automaker just launched a new car.
The Polestar 4 SUV is the latest addition to the brand’s portfolio, and it sure looks like the electric wagon that some—including myself—have been waiting for. The 4 is Polestar’s best-selling model, and Europe, which is known for its love of wagons, is the company’s biggest market. Put two and two together, and it’s no surprise that the marque’s latest EV is now available on the other side of the ocean. (Canada will follow, too.)

The regular Polestar 4 is one of the weirdest EVs in America, partly because it doesn’t have a rear window. The new Polestar 4 SUV fixes that problem by adding a regular rear window and a traditional rear-view mirror. There’s also a rear wiper with a built-in washer nicely tucked under the rear spoiler. Polestar said that owners can still spec an optional digital rear-view mirror, which can come in handy when the trunk is filled to the roof.
Speaking of the trunk, the 4 SUV can fit up to 655 liters (23.1 cubic feet) of stuff up to the inner roof with the rear seats in place, which is 129 liters (3.4 cu ft ) more than the coupe. Polestar says there’s 530 liters (18.7 cu ft) of cargo volume up to the seatbacks, or 30 liters (1.1 cu ft) more than its coupe sibling. The total cargo capacity, with the rear seats folded and the 15-liter (0.5 cu ft) front trunk thrown into the mix, is 1,665 liters (58.8 cu ft).

Despite the extra cargo space, the Polestar 4 SUV is almost identical in size to the Coupe version. The two EVs share the same 190.5-inch (4,840-millimeter) length and the same 84.2-inch (2,139 mm) width, with the SUV being nearly 0.9 in (22 mm) taller.
The interior is also identical, but the new 4 SUV gets an optional electrochromic glass roof that can reduce glare through an electrically dimmable laminated glass layer. That said, the standard kit includes a fixed glass roof that provides 99.5% UV protection, according to Polestar.
Vehicle-to-load (V2L), which enables owners to export energy from the high-voltage battery, is also standard. By using an adapter that plugs into the car’s charge port, the system can deliver up to 3.3 kilowatts. What’s more, the Polestar 4 SUV introduces a new Camping mode that keeps the climate system, infotainment system, USB-C ports, and the 12-volt outlets active while the car is parked. This, in addition to the V2L function, can make a camping trip a lot more enjoyable, especially when it’s really cold or really hot outside.

A 100-kilowatt-hour battery pack is standard across the board in the Polestar 4 SUV, with a 200-kilowatt maximum DC charging power and AC charging at up to 22 kW in certain markets. The base, single-motor rear-wheel-drive Polestar 4 SUV puts down 272 horsepower and 253 pound-feet (343 Newton-meters) of torque, and has a WLTP-rated range of up to 391 miles (630 kilometers).
The more potent dual-motor, all-wheel-drive model gets 544 hp and 506 lb-ft (686 Nm) of torque, enabling it to sprint from zero to 62 miles per hour (0-100 kilometers per hour) in 3.9 seconds. The WLTP range rating is 372 miles (600 km).
The new Polestar 4 SUV is built in Busan, South Korea. Pricing starts at €57,900 in Germany (including VAT), €4,000 less than the Polestar 4 Coupe, with the first deliveries planned for the fourth quarter of 2026.
