Dealers are stocking more used EVs to reflect the surge in demand from buyers ove the past year.
EVs accounted for 7.5% of all used car listings, a month-on-month (MoM) increase of 8%, powering a year-on-year (YoY) jump of 17.5%, said Cazoo.
It said improved availability has driven a rise in the proportion of EVs listed by dealers since May.
When combined with hybrids and plug-in hybrids, alternative fuelled vehicles accounted for nearly one in five cars stocked by dealers.
Buyer searches for EVs more than doubled YoY from 1.7% to 3.6%, with hybrid searches increasing from 5.4% to 6.9%.
Petrol remains the fuel of choice for most buyers, although its share of views dropped YoY from 51.1% to 45.2%, while diesel improved from 41.8% to 44.3%.
Lucy Tugby, chief marketing officer of Cazoo, said: “August can be a challenging month for the used car retail sector, as the summer holiday period takes buyers out of the market.
“However, our Market View analysis points to growing buyer interest in EVs, supported by improved availability and stable prices, making them a more accessible consideration for some buyers.
“ICE models still account for the lion’s share of dealer inventories and ad views, with diesel remaining a strong draw for many used car buyers, despite falling out of favour in the new car market.
“Stability across pricing and inventory levels should provide dealers with a solid start to September with increased buyer activity likely to be generated by the all-important plate-change.”
The average price of a used car on Cazoo in August was £17,424, a MoM rise of just 0.2% (£33) but down 1.5% YoY.
The biggest upward price mover was the Ford Fiesta, with older petrol models aged 12-14 years rising 3.3% to £4,677. While the biggest drop was for the Range Rover Evoque, with 6-8 year old diesel models down 3.3% to £14,118.
The average number of cars stocked by dealers dipped by just one unit MoM from 58 to 57 but was up from 54 in August 2025.
Ford strengthened its position as the most viewed brand on Cazoo, followed by Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Vauxhall.
