Waylands Automotive has signed up with Chinese EV carmaker Aion to represent the brand in Cardiff.

Aion, part of the GAC group, is a recent entrant to the UK market intent on delivering a “new standard” for electric vehicle ownership.

At the heart of that standard the “Great 8” Promise, an ownership package included as standard with every vehicle.

This includes an eight-year vehicle warranty, an eight-year battery warranty, eight years of servicing, eight years of roadside assistance and complimentary MOT cover from years three to eight.

The brand’s first model to be available in the UK, the Aion V, is an all-electric SUV in the upper-mainstream EV segment.

John O’Hanlon, CEO of Waylands, said: “We’re always looking carefully at how the market is evolving and how we can make sure we’re offering customers the right choice.

“What stood out to us about Aion is the clarity of the proposition. There’s a lot of complexity in the EV space, and customers are looking for reassurance as much as they are for product. The ‘Great 8’ cuts through that as it’s simple, transparent and genuinely customer focused.”

Waylands is ranked 86 in the Motor Trader Top 200 Dealer Groups with annual turnover of £198m. It represents Honda, Jaecoo, Kia, MG, Omoda, Polestar and Volvo.

The group operates in Bicester, Bristol, Cardiff, Gloucester, Newbury, Oxford, Reading and Swindon.
