Duckworth Motor buys Norwich JLR franchise Group 1

Duckworth Motor Group has acquired the  Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) franchise for Norwich, at from Group 1 Automotive.

Duckworth Motor Group, an official Land Rover franchisee since 1980, is a family-owned and run business originating from Lincolnshire.

The group currently own and operates two Land Rover franchises at Market Rasen in North Lincolnshire, and Boston in South Lincolnshire.

The Norwich site became Duckworth Jaguar Land Rover Norwich on 5 June 2026.

The store offers new, used, fleet and business Land Rover vehicles, alongside approved used Jaguar models. It also provides comprehensive aftersales support and servicing for both brands.

The sale of the dealership is part of a strategy announced by Group 1 in late 2025 that it was to part ways with JLR.

Ben Duckworth, managing Director of Duckworth Motor Group said: “This expansion is an exciting step forward for the company and the growth reflects our relationship and commitment to JLR, representing the four brands of Defender, Discovery, Range Rover and Jaguar, as well as the hard work of our team.

“Since 1980 the Duckworth family has grown its business with the JLR brands and is excited about the JLR franchises for East Anglia.

Financial due diligence and transactional support was provided by Cooper Parry and Field Fisher.

Ian McMahon, head of automotive at Cooper Parry supported Duckworth Motor Group on the transaction, and said:

“The acquisition of this additional point of representation for Duckworth Motor Group, is a great way to build their market area representation, and with it the ability to invest in the brand and the local economy.”
