Motorpoint is to open a new outlet in Leeds in the summer, bringing the total number of centres in its network to 22.
It said it was investing £15m in the with redevelopment in progress.
Located on Whitehall Road, close to Elland Road, a mile from the city centre, Motorpoint Leeds will showcase hundreds of nearly new and used cars from more than 30 manufacturers, all available to purchase and drive away the same day.
With recruitment already underway for a range of managerial, sales and vehicle preparation roles, Motorpoint Leeds will create 40 new jobs.
Mark Carpenter, Motorpoint Group CEO, said: “We’re excited to announce that we’re opening our 22nd store, just a stone’s throw away from Leeds city centre.
“As the Car Buyer’s Champion, we know how important choice, value and quality are for West Yorkshire motorists when shopping for their next car.
“Once open, Motorpoint Leeds will double our presence in West Yorkshire and give car buyers the opportunity to browse and test drive more than 1,000 vehicles across both our new Leeds store and our existing Castleford store, as well as thousands more cars through our national stock.”
Motorpoint turned in a strong H1 performance with pre-tax profits surging 80% to £3.6m on turnover up 15% to £647.7m.
Motorpoint used car sales rose 7.4% compared to the overall market which was up 2.8%. It said finance commission income remains subdued due to relatively high interest rates.
