Car sharing business Zipcar UK has confirmed it is pulling the plug on the business and ceasing operations in the UK.
Zipcar had been operating in London for 15 years but said it was now terminating all memberships.
“You will no longer be able to make any bookings with Zipcar UK and any prepaid membership fees paid for the period from 31 December 2025 will be automatically refunded.
“All members will have access to their account for a minimum of 30 days from the date of this notice expiring 16 February 2026,” it said on its website.
Zipcar has concluded the formal consultation process with its UK employees, and UK operations have now ceased.
The decision to cease operations applies only to the UK. Zipcar’s operations in the United States and all other international markets remain fully operational and unaffected,” it said.
“Going forward if you wish to use Zipcar in the US, you will need to have a Zipcar US membership,” it added.
For customers looking for alternatives to Zip, it is pointing them to the CoMoUK website for more information on other car sharing options in their area. CoMoUK is the national charity for shared transport.
