Women on the Move Against Cancer (WOMAC) has partnered with Bowel Research UK for 2026.

Funds raised by WOMAC’s Supporters and industry partners over the year will go towards vital research into bowel cancer, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and other bowel disorders.

Nicola Humphreys, Chair of WOMAC, said: “Bowel cancer affects thousands of people each year, yet it is still not talked about enough.

“As an organisation committed to supporting impactful, research-led charities, we are proud to partner with Bowel Research UK in 2026.

“We are particularly excited that funds raised by WOMAC will directly support a defined research project, allowing our Supporters to see the tangible impact of their fundraising efforts.”

Its mission is not only to save lives, but also to enable people living with chronic bowel conditions to enjoy a significantly improved quality of life.

In the UK, more than three quarters of a million people are living with serious bowel conditions, and more than 17,400 people die from bowel cancer each year, making it the second deadliest cancer in the country.

Bowel Research UK awards grants of up to £60,000 to support pioneering research projects that aim to improve prevention, diagnosis and treatment, while helping to raise awareness of this common, yet often overlooked, disease.

Kathryn Pretzel-Shiels, Interim CEO of Bowel Research UK, said: “We are thrilled to have been selected as WOMAC’s charity of the year.

“This partnership will help us accelerate the vital research needed to improve the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of bowel cancer and other bowel diseases. Too many lives are affected by these conditions, yet they are still not talked about enough.

“With WOMAC’s support, we can fund innovative research and move closer to a future where fewer people are diagnosed and more people survive. We are excited to work together over the coming year to create a real and lasting impact.”
