The Toyota used car scheme was voted the best in the UK in the What Car? used car awards.

It found that the Lexus and Toyota service-activated warranty is one of the very few to provide cover for cars up to 10 years old.

The warranty is service activated. The length of the warranty is linked to the car’s service schedule. Customers who take it to a franchised dealer every 12 months for a service and rewarded with another 12 months’ worth of warranty and UK-wide roadside assistance until the car is 10 years old or has covered 100,000 miles.

The scheme covers the same parts and labour as the three-year Lexus/Toyota new car warranty.

Toyota (GB) overhauled its warranty proposition for dealers and customers in 2021 with the launch of Toyota and Lexus Relax in 2021.

Toyota said at the time of launch the warranty should help improve residuals of warranted cars and provide a ‘compelling’ business case for its dealers.

It also hoped that the two brands wouldretain more servicing work than they do at present.

Meanwhile the Skoda Enyaq became  the first pure electric model to be named Britain’s best used car by What Car?.

The electric family SUV was chosen from a field of 1,183 contenders for value, practicality and range.

Demand for used EVs is growing. Dealers experienced record levels of demand for used EVs in September, according to Indicata’s Market Watch report.

Indicata data saw the Market Day’s Supply of EVs fall to a record low of 44 days in early September, the lower number signifies quick sales. September sales data highlighted EVs gaining a market share of 8.2% of the used market.

Dealers are also more confident selling used EVs. Dealers chose to trade more of their used EV part exchanges in Q3 rather than sell them at auction according to Autorola.

Its wholesale MarketPlace online platform saw used EV volumes fall by -11.1% between Q2 and Q3 as dealers gained increased confidence to stock and sell their zero emission part exchange cars.

“In 2023 and 2024 we had many more used EVs for sale on our online auction platform because dealers didn’t want to stock them.

“In 2025 that has changed dramatically with many EV part exchanges being retailed by dealers rather than sent to auction,” said Neil Frost, Autorola’s managing director.
