The 2027 Subaru Getaway 3-Row EV Has Over 300 Miles Of Range

  • The 2027 Subaru Getaway is a new three-row electric SUV.
  • Built on the same underpinnings as the upcoming Toyota Highlander EV, the Getaway will be Subaru’s most powerful production model.
  • With dual-motor all-wheel drive and a 95.8-kWh battery, the Subaru Getaway has a manufacturer-estimated range of over 300 miles.

Subaru is now a serious player in the EV game, believe it or not. The Japanese underdog has gone from having just one rather lackluster battery-powered model in its lineup to, by the end of this year, no fewer than four proper electric cars.

The 2027 Subaru Getaway is the latest to join the ranks, and it’s a big one. Based on the same underpinnings as the 2027 Toyota Highlander, the new Getaway is Subaru’s largest EV to date, offering seating for up to seven people.

It’s also the most powerful production Subaru ever, with the first trims available at launch getting a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive setup that’s good for a healthy 420 horsepower. That enables a zero to 60 mph sprint in less than five seconds, according to the automaker.

By comparison, the technically similar Toyota Highlander tops out at 338 hp. The Getaway’s two electric motors are paired with a 95.8-kilowatt-hour battery pack that can be charged at up to 150 kW via the native NACS port, with a 10-to-80% top-up taking around 30 minutes.

Subaru says this configuration can deliver over 300 miles of range, whereas the Highlander’s highest range figure is 320 miles—and the power differential might be to blame. That said, Subaru will also sell a shorter-range version of the Getaway at a later date, equipped with a 77 kWh battery and dual-motor all-wheel drive. This configuration doesn’t have a range estimate yet, but logic dictates that it should be in the same realm as the 270-mile rating of the Highlander’s equivalent trim.

The front design of the 2027 Getaway is similar to Subaru’s other electric offerings, while the rear is almost identical to its Toyota-branded cousin. With 8.3 inches of ground clearance and all-wheel drive, Subaru claims that its biggest EV yet has “exceptional capability off-road” and can tow up to 3,500 pounds.

Inside, the three-row Getaway can be had with six seats, where the second row has a pair of captain’s chairs, or seven seats with a bench seat for second-row passengers. With the third row upright, Subaru’s family hauler has 15.9 cubic feet of cargo space in the trunk. Fold the third row, and that space increases to 45.6 cu ft.

A 14-inch infotainment touchscreen and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster are standard, along with heated front seats and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. A pair of 15-watt wireless smartphone chargers is located on the central console, and there are no fewer than four USB-C charging ports for rear-seat passengers.

On certain trim levels, a large fixed panoramic roof is included, plus heated second- and third-row seats, ventilated front and second-row seats, and a heated steering wheel.

The 2027 Subaru Getaway will go on sale in late 2026, with pricing and detailed specifications slated for publication closer to the launch date. It joins the Uncharted, Solterra, and Trailseeker in Subaru’s EV lineup, and will go head-to-head with rivals like the Kia EV9 and Hyundai Ioniq 9.
