  • Telo’s MT1 electric pickup truck measures just 152 inches long, or about the same as a Mini Cooper
  • The MT1 is currently scheduled for launch in early 2025
  • The MT1 promises up to 500 hp and more than 350 miles of range

Pickup trucks have grown in size with each generation, but an electric vehicle startup called Telo wants to reverse that trend with the MT1.

Unveiled last year, the 152-inch-long MT1 is a tiny electric truck that has a similar footprint to a Mini Cooper but enough space for five adults and a 60-inch bed, which is larger than what you find on the Rivian R1T.

The MT1 is currently scheduled for launch in early 2025, and a basic configurator has gone live on Telo’s website. It reveals a starting price of $41,520, which is for a base MT1 with a Standard battery estimated to deliver 260 miles of range. The base MT1 also comes with a single-motor, rear-wheel-drive powertrain rated at 300 hp.

For an additional $3,980, buyers can add a Long Range battery that will deliver an estimated range of more than 350 miles. A 500-hp dual-motor, all-wheel-drive powertrain can also be added for an additional $4,769.

Telo quotes the same range estimates regardless of whether the single-motor or dual-motor powertrains are selected.

The company has previously said the Long Range battery will have a 106-kWh capacity and the ability to add 210 miles of range in 20 minutes when using a suitable DC fast charger. No details for the Standard battery have been revealed.

Despite its small size, the MT1 is promised to be still capable of doing real truck work. Telo claims maximum payload and tow rating capacities of 1,600 pounds and 6,600 pounds, respectively. And thanks to a midgate, the MT1 can fit 4-by-8-foot sheets of plywood, a 9-foot surfboard, and other long objects behind the front seat.

Telo is currently only accepting reservations and said around 3,700 have already reserved one, which requires a $152 deposit. The company hasn’t said when order books will open but noted that pricing and specifications are subject to change prior to the start of the ordering process.
