Polestar Wants Tesla Owners To Jump Ship With A Massive $21,000 Discount

By automotive-mag.com 4 Min Read
  • Polestar is slashing up to $21,000 off its electric crossovers in the U.S.
  • Tesla owners can benefit from the maximum discount when financing a 2025 Polestar 3.
  • The Polestar 4 is also going for Tesla owners, with up to $14,000 in incentives.

Polestar is offering huge incentives for the Polestar 3 and Polestar 4 electric models yet again, with current Tesla owners clearly in the company’s crosshairs. The Swedish automaker will slash the price of a 2025 Polestar 3 electric SUV by up to $21,000, while the Polestar 4 crossover can be had for up to $14,000 less if the customers currently drive a Tesla.

The most generous incentive is even higher than when Polestar went after Tesla owners last year, when it offered up to $20,000 off a new Polestar 3 lease. Mind you, the $7,500 federal tax credit was still available back then, making this round of incentives even more impressive.

The current offers are available until the end of April, and some asterisks have to be considered. First, it’s worth noting that even if you don’t drive a Tesla right now, you can still get $18,000 off a 2025 Polestar 3, and up to $10,000 off a new Polestar 4 when buying with cash or through financing.

Tesla owners or lessees get an additional $3,000 off for a Polestar 3, while Polestar 4 buyers can get $3,000 extra in what the company calls the “Tesla Conquest Bonus.” To get the full amount, though, customers need to qualify for financing, and not everybody will be eligible, according to Polestar’s website. Tesla owners don’t have to trade in their cars, but proof of ownership is required.

What’s more, the sweet $21,000 discount applies to the 2025 Polestar 3, which is sitting on a 400-volt architecture and has a previous-generation infotainment computer. By comparison, the 2026 model was upgraded to a snappier computer and has a more modern 800V battery, which enables faster charging.

Still, this is quite the deal, with the base 2025 Polestar 5 Long Range Single Motor coming down to just $46,500 after applying the $21,000 bonuses. Despite the older tech under the skin, this is still a large, 350-mile EV that shares its underpinnings with the more luxurious Volvo EX90. It’s also just $1,510 more expensive than a Tesla Model Y Premium Rear-Wheel Drive, which is smaller and has a 357-mile EPA range rating.

Then, there’s the Polestar 4, which is also smaller than the Polestar 3 and doesn’t have a rear window. With the $14,000 stackable bonuses, the Long Range Single Motor version comes in at $42,400.
