The National Franchised Dealers Association has highlighted dealer concerns ahead of the upcoming autumn Budget next week.

It called for tax changes to increase electric vehicle adoption and an extension of ICE vehicles deadline in ZEV mandate to align with European manufacturing output.

More widely it called for a freeze on fuel duty, the reform of reform inheritance tax, removal of the apprenticeship levy clawback.

It also called for improvements to the UK’s charging infrastructure and the removal of business rates ‘stealth’ tax.

“The upcoming Autumn Budget is a vital opportunity to articulate a clear strategy for the UK automotive retail sector.

“Employing around 600,000 people, 78% of the UK’s automotive workforce, and generating close to £200 billion in turnover, our sector is fundamental to the economy,” said NFDA CEO Sue Robinson.

In October, NFDA submitted its Budget proposal to the Chancellor, Rachel Reeves MP, for consideration.
