Rob Truscott, CEO at Motus Group (UK) for the past eight years, has announced his retirement on 31 July this year.

Motus Group (UK) owns Pentagon Motor Group, which is headed up by CEO Tom Carney.  It is also a large independent commercial vehicle dealer group and its Motus Commercials operation the largest DAF dealer group in Europe.

He said, “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Motus and my time in the UK particularly.

“My wife and I are having a house built on our favourite part of the coast in South Africa and, in future, will split our time between there and the UK.

“More importantly, my retirement now creates the opportunity for other colleagues to progress their careers. A key measure of my own career has been to develop a line of talented successors capable of leading and continuing to build the business going forward.”

Truscott, who was 21 years at the company, will be succeeded as CEO of Motus Group (UK) from 1 August, by Matt Lawrenson.

A chartered accountant with a deep understanding of the motor industry, and more than 20 years’ experience at Motus, he has grown Motus Commercials into the largest DAF dealer group in Europe, recently chairing the DAF international dealer council, of which he remains a member.

Lawrenson is replaced as managing director of Motus Commercials by Daniel Fitzjohn, who joined Motus Group UK in 2017 after a successful senior career in the Middle East.

He was recently appointed commercial director at Motus Commercials, in addition to existing responsibilities as regional director for the Southwest Region. Fitzjohn is a member of the DAF UK dealer council.

Motus is a highly successful South African group, operating across a wide spectrum in the non-manufacturing automotive sector.
