The SMMT hosted an International Women’s Day & Allies event, sponsored by Oaklin.

This year, International Women’s Day will take place on Sunday 8 March. The theme is ‘Give to Gain’.

A LinkedIn post from the SMMT read: “It was fantastic to see so many people come together to share insights, ask thoughtful questions and actively engage in conversations about how progress is driven by what we each choose to give – from encouragement and insight to advocacy and action.”

The event will take place again next year.

The IWD 2026 Give To Gain Campaign encourages a mindset of generosity and collaboration.

When people, organisations, and communities give generously, opportunities and support for women increase.

The first International Women’s Day was held in March 1911.

Since then progress has been made in advancing women’s rights, from expanding access to education and employment to increasing representation in leadership.e
