Lloyd Motor Group has acquired the Volkswagen dealership in Carlisle from Lookers.
The site will operate as Lloyd Volkswagen Carlisle, continuing to trade from Auchinleck Drive, Carlisle.
A total of 33 colleagues have transferred to Lloyd Motor Group as part of the acquisition, and the business has created 10 additional roles in a recruitment drive.
The addition expands Lloyd Motor Group’s Volkswagen representation to three locations: Lloyd Volkswagen West Cumbria, Lloyd Škoda Carlisle, and Lloyd Volkswagen Carlisle.
Lloyd Motor Group has been expanding. In 2026 so far, it has taken on the BMW Motorrad franchise in Blackpool and launched a new Geely retailer in Newcastle.
The group now represents 13 brands, operating 43 retailers and service centres with a 1,700 headcount.

The addition of Lloyd Volkswagen Carlisle further reinforces the group’s long-term commitment to its OEM partners, regional investment, and continued growth across its core markets.
Lloyd Motor Group is ranked 25 in the Motor Trader Top 200 Dealer Groups with annual turnover of £870.9m.
