Cox Automotive announced today that former CEO of Manheim Michael Buxton has died unexpectedly.
Buxton appeared regularly in Motor Trader in his long and highly successful career in the motor sector.
A statement from Cox Automotive highlighted his achievements in the sector and his dedication to the industry.
“It is with great sadness that we share the unexpected passing of Michael Buxton.
“Many of you will remember Michael from his remarkable career with Cox Automotive.
He joined us in 1994 as a Management Accountant and rose through the organisation to serve as CFO and then CEO of Manheim UK.
“He later led our Cox Automotive International business as COO and President before handing the torch to Martin Forbes in 2020.”
Martin Forbes, President of Cox Automotive International, said: “We are deeply saddened by the news of Michael’s passing.
“Cox Automotive would not be the business it is today without the years of dedication and leadership Michael brought to it.
“He leaves a lasting legacy on our industry; his determination and drive to push our sector forward will be remembered by many. Our thoughts are with Michael’s family and friends during this difficult time.”
“We wanted to share this news today to honour the significant contributions Michael made not only to Cox Automotive but to the wider automotive industry. He served on the boards of Hendy Automotive and Auca and was a mentor and friend to many across the sector.”
