Demand for mobile mechanic services has grown in the past few years following the pandemic.
Mobile bookings from retail customers via the BookMyGarage platform grew by more than a fifth (22%) in 2024 compared to 2023.
It said in 2022, the demand from retail customers for a mobile mechanic was relatively low but as the pandemic boosted online services, demand for mobile servicing also grew.
Mobile bookings now account for 4.2% of bookings compared to 3.6% in 2023.
BookMyGarage is now further driving demand with the introduction of a bespoke package designed specifically for mobile mechanics.
Jessica Potts, chief marketing officer at BookMyGarage, said: “We saw a massive rise in consumers embracing online services during the pandemic so it’s inevitable these trends have intensified.
BookMy Garage is not alone. In 2023 Lookers announced it was rolling out its mobile repair business with plans to have 30 vans on the road by the end of the year.
Mobile has long been established in the commercial arena with Vauxhall Van Centres and TrustFord key players.

The idea of a national mobile service operation was first mooted in 2016 at the official opening of a TrustFord commercial vehicle dealership in Dagenham, East London.
Ford mobile servicing has been conceived to minimise disruption to fleet operators by reducing vehicle down time thanks to on-site maintenance work.
