Central Car Auctions donated £5,000 to support the completion of a Glasgow nursery’s outdoor learning space that was delayed due to vandalism.

Ivy In The Park, based in Carntyne in the city’s east end, undertook an ambitious project to transform a disused underground train carriage into a one-of-a-kind outdoor classroom for its children.

Jason Miller, Managing Director at Central Car Auctions, said: “Ivy in the Park plays a vital role in the local community, offering programmes and activities that support children, families, and residents across the area.

“Restoring the unit will help them continue delivering the fantastic work they do every day. We’re pleased to help such an important community organisation continue their great work.”

The outdoor learning space has now been completed, turning the subway unit into a safe, creative, and inspiring learning environment that will benefit children for years to come.

The learning space was vandalised in May 2025, causing extensive damage and leaving children and staff heartbroken.

The incident significantly delayed progress and added to the overall cost of the project, which exceeded £30,000.

Alan Govan, Nursery Director at Ivy in the Park, said: “Having a fully functioning outdoor classroom will make a tremendous difference to the children’s learning experience.

“It will give them the freedom to explore, be creative, build confidence, and learn through real hands-on play every day.

“The continual vandalism was absolutely devastating for our children and team — we put so much time, care and investment into creating something special, only to see it repeatedly damaged.

“We’re incredibly grateful to Central Car Auctions for their generous support. Their kindness has helped us restore this space and ensures our children can enjoy the outdoor classroom to its fullest potential.”
