Big Motoring World is accelerating its sales of electric vehicles thtough its 10 locations.

EVs made up 19% of Big Motoring World sales in the third quarter of the year – up 52% on Q3 2024 figures.

Big Motoring World attributed the sales growth to “operational changes” implemented over the past year, with a fresh focus on customers and matching vehicle availability with demand.

It cited Auto Trader data showing it shifted stock off forecourts in 21 days compared to an industry average of 30.

This, it said, was in part due to its EV finance deposit contribution campaign, which was recently increased to £750 and extended to the end of the year.

The group also offers an EV and hybrid warranty package that includes unlimited parts and battery cover up to a value of £10,000.

Laurence Vaughan, CEO at Big Motoring World, said: “This year we have been laser-focused on improving how we operate as a business, and this ‘summer of success’ is evidence that our fresh approach has had a very real impact.

“Our compelling EV package is driving footfall at each of our sites and helping an increasing number of consumers make the leap into EV ownership, illustrating that consumer demand is present when price is less of a barrier.”

Big Motoring World said it now stocks more than 8,250 retail-ready vehicles at any one time across 10 locations and drives demand with an “aggressive pricing strategy”with 95% of its cars are priced at just below market value.

Big Motoring World went into the red in 2024 with pre-tax losses of -£11.8m compared to a profit of £2.24m the prior year on turnover up 23% to £859.1m. It said the losses were predominantly due to increased financing and exceptional costs due to expansion and restructuring.

In April last year former Big Motoring World founder Peter Waddell was ousted from the board. A court case is pending.
