International Motors has given more details for the launch of the Chinese Foton commercial range in the UK in 2027.
The distributor first announced it was to import the Chinese brand back in April and now confirms that it will sell the Tunland pick-up in the UK.
Bringing a fresh proposition to the pick-up market, the Tunland has been designed to balance rugged capability, advanced technology and refined everyday driving.
IM is promoting the comfort and design of the vehicle which it said offers more than a traditional ‘workhorse’ pick-up. It is set to launch in the UK in early 2027.
It has a double-cab configuration with seating for five. Under the bonnet, the Foton Tunland features a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system and an eight-speed automatic transmission. This powertrain combines the low-speed assistance of electrification with the familiar usability of a diesel pick-up, delivering a balance of performance and efficiency.
David Clark, brand manager, Foton UK, said: “We are pleased to introduce Foton to the UK, having previewed the brand to the market at the Commercial Vehicle Show earlier in 2026.
“The Foton Tunland represents our ambition to offer UK buyers a compelling alternative in the pick-up market, combining strikingly bold looks and the practical qualities they need with the comfort, technology and design they increasingly expect from their vehicles.”
Final specifications, pricing, model availability and further details of the UK sales and aftersales network to be announced later.
The new pick-up market has been hit by changes introduced in the 2024 Budget which came into play in April last year. Pick-ups are now taxed as cars for BIK purposes
