Chery International will build fast-charging and energy storage stations in the UK.
The group revealed its plans at the International User Summit in Wuhu, China, last week. This will support the growing number of drivers choosing its new energy vehicles, consisting of plug-in hybrid and fully electric models.
Gary Lan, CEO of Chery International UK, said: “Becoming the best-selling Chinese automotive group in Europe in September is a powerful endorsement of our cars and the dedication of our teams and partners. What we have seen at the International User Summit in Wuhu shows the next stage of that journey.
“New models, plans to bring fast-charging and energy storage to the UK from 2027 and a commitment to building more of our vehicles closer to the markets where they are sold all reflect our long-term investment in the regions we operate in.
“For UK customers, that means more choice, with iCAUR arriving in early 2027, and the infrastructure to support the growing number of drivers choosing our plug-in hybrid and fully electric models. Listening to our customers and partners in Wuhu will help shape how we deliver on that ambition.”
Its brands registered 56,552 vehicles across the EU, UK and EFTA markets, up 187% year on year, placing the group ninth among all manufacturers.
In the UK, Chery International UK was the third-largest automotive group with 32,823 registrations and a 9.36% market share, according to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).
