The number of used hybrid vehicles advertised for sale in the UK reached a record high in September, according to MarketCheck.
Stock levels approached the 100,000 mark for the first time as a total of 99,237 used hybrid vehicles were on the market last month.
Alastair Campbell, MarketCheck UK, said: “The growth in the used hybrid market over the past three years has been remarkable. We’ve gone from around 43,500 vehicles on the market in May 2023 to almost 100,000 today. September represents another important milestone, with used hybrid stock reaching its highest level since our records began.
“For consumers, that means significantly more choice when considering a hybrid vehicle. For retailers, it demonstrates just how quickly the used market is changing as more electrified vehicles enter the second-hand sector.
“We’re now approaching the point where 100,000 used hybrids could be available on the UK market at any one time, something that would have seemed a long way off just a few years ago.”
In May 2023, MarketCheck recorded just 43,575 used hybrid vehicles on the market. By September 2026, that figure had more than doubled.
The hybrid market has since seen significant growth.
