Dealer networks across Europe expanded in 2025 with an “explosion” of new entrants in the market.
The shift was particularly marked as networks generally declined through the 2000s, as traditional OEMs focused on “right-sizing” networks and working with fewer high-performing partners with larger market territories.
The 2026 edition of the European Car Distribution Handbook showed that across Europe the number of franchise points increased in 2025 with new Chinese entrants building market share.
The change in shape will be covered in a ICDP webinar which will explore high level results and trends from the latest edition of the European Car Distribution Handbook.
“The webinar will showcase the network status as of 1 January 2026, which is the only pan-European source of data on dealer network numbers for over 50 brands across 35 European markets, covering both sales and service networks.
“We will explore market-level and brand-level trends, with a particular focus looking at the approaches being taken by new entrants with regards to both overall distribution strategy, and in-market dealer expansion. To book your free place, email to [email protected]
