The National Franchised Dealers Association (NFDA) is pushing to attract apprentices into the motor retail sector.
The trade body is promoting its industry initiative, Drive My Career, at the Coventry Careers Fair on Wednesday 7 October, showcasing the range of apprenticeship and career opportunities available across automotive retail.
Taking place at Coventry Transport Museum from 10am to 2pm, the free event brings together employers and job seekers, giving visitors the opportunity to explore career paths and speak directly with organisations about opportunities.
Drive My Career, powered by NFDA, connects people with careers in automotive retail and helps them discover local dealership employers and apprenticeship opportunities.
The team will be on hand throughout the event to speak to students, school leavers, graduates and career changers about the wide variety of roles available, from sales and customer service to technical, marketing, finance and digital positions.
The event comes as the Government places renewed emphasis on apprenticeships and skills, with recently announced Growth and Skills Levy reforms aimed at prioritising young people and supported by £1 billion of additional investment.
NFDA CEO Sue Robinson said: “Automotive retail offers a huge variety of apprenticeship and career opportunities, but many young people are still unaware of just how diverse the sector has become.
“Coventry Careers Fair is a great opportunity for Drive My Career to meet people face-to-face, showcase the industry and highlight how apprenticeships can provide a valuable first step towards a long-term career in automotive retail.”
