Vertu has appointed John Curry as head of business at its BMW dealership in Durham.
Curry will take over day-to-day management of Vertu BMW Durham on Broomside Park, which was acquired by Vertu in 2020 at the same time as his former site on Teesside.
He said: “I’m delighted to take up the role of Head of Business at Vertu BMW Durham, and to renew my relationship with the brand.
“I’m hugely proud of the success that the team has achieved at Hyundai Peterlee in recent years, and look forward to building on that success with the team in Durham in the future.”
He will report directly to Vertu BMW Franchise Director Andy Verrall.
Curry previously held a similar position to his current role, at BMW Teesside, before taking up the position of general manager at Vertu Hyundai Peterlee.
The Peterlee dealership on Mill Hill was named the best performing Hyundai retail site in the UK having topped the 2021 Hyundai Balanced Score Card League for eight of the twelve months of the year.
Curry was also named General Manager of the Year across the Hyundai Division at the 2025 Vertu Management awards.
Robert Forrester, Chief Executive of Vertu, said: “John has done a fantastic job in charge of Hyundai Peterlee, most notably in helping the dealership to be named as the UK’s best-performing Hyundai retailer.
“With his extensive knowledge and experience of the brand from earlier in his career, John is the perfect person to lead the team at BMW Durham, and I have no doubt he will build on the dealership’s strong performance and help to drive it forward.”
