Changan will expand its vehicle range with the launch of the Changan Deepal S05 PHEV, a C segment SUV. The vehicle is the first to feature Changan’s new Ultra-Hybrid technology.
The UK launch is scheduled for later in the summer and customer deliveries are expected to begin in September. Full UK pricing and specification to be confirmed.
Nic Thomas, managing director at Changan UK said: “We believe drivers shouldn’t have to compromise when looking to drive electric.
“The Deepal S05 PHEV offers the range, efficiency and flexibility people actually need, whether they’re in the city or further afield, all in a high-quality SUV designed for real life.
“It’s about giving customers more choice, more capability and better value all within a sophisticated SUV that feels premium. We look forward to introducing this to our UK line-up over the summer.”
Based on Changan’s BlueCore platform, developed with input from its UK based R&D centre, the system combines an electric drive with freedom from range anxiety.
The vehicle combines a 172-kW permanent-magnet synchronous motor with a 63 kW 1.5-liter four-cylinder petrol engine.
Delivering 190 kW of total system output, its powertrain strikes a balance between performance and efficiency.
The electric motor is powered by an 18.4 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, which can be charged at up to 11 kW AC and also supports fast charging at up to 55 kW.
The Deepal S05 PHEV comes with a seven-year or 100,000 miles vehicle warranty, complemented by an eight-year or 124,000 miles warranty for the vehicle’s three electrical systems.
