Motorpoint is rolling out electric vehicle battery health certification provided by Generational at its 21 stores
Motorpoint, which opened its first store in Derby in 1998, stocks over 6,000 vehicles at any time and preparing more than 65,000 per year. The new partnership follows a successful trial of Generational’s services.
Data from Generational’s rollout shows that battery-electric vehicles tested with its technology sold four days faster than untested BEVs.
Across more than 1,500 used BEVs and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles tested nationwide, Motorpoint’s stock returned an average state of battery health of 96.6%.
Motorpoint will only retail EVs with a battery health rating of ‘very good’ or higher.
Oliver Phillpott, CEO of Generational, said: “Battery health is fast becoming the new mileage in the EV era. Buyers want clarity and confidence, and our technology enables industry-leading retailers like Motorpoint to deliver that in minutes.
“The results speak for themselves; vehicles with verified battery health data are selling much faster on average. It’s proof that transparency empowers customers and drives stronger business performance, so we’re thrilled to see Motorpoint leading the way in making battery health data standard across the UK’s used EV market.”
Curtis Ainsworth, head of preparation at Motorpoint, said: “With more motorists making the move to electric, we wanted to give car buyers the reassurance they’re looking for when opting for a battery-powered vehicle.
“Generational’s testing solution offers accurate, transparent and data-driven battery health information that’s easy for customers to understand – which ultimately helps them buy with confidence.”
Generational said testing involved minimal staff training with a simple connection to the vehicle’s OBD. The results are posted on a customer-facing certificate.
