Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is celebrating 75 years of the VW Bus, the commercial vehicle with the longest production run in Europe.

Events will be held around the world for the 75th anniversary. The extensive anniversary campaign kicked off in Germany on Saturday.

On 8 March 1950, The first Transporter, T1, left the production line in Wolfsburg on 8 March 1950. Over 12.5 million VW Buses have been produced since then, in Hanover.

A shift has been seen as ‘One VW Bus for all’ became ‘The right VW Bus for everyone’, reflecting the era of electric mobility.

The Multivan marked the start of a new era in 2022 – designed for leisure and work, the van is available with an optional plug-in hybrid drive.

The first all-electric VW Bus in large-scale production also arrived in 2022, the ID. Buzz.

Now, in 2025, the new Transporter product line is launching as the third model series.

The current VW Bus range consists of three pillars with six base models: the Multivan and California, the ID. Buzz and the ID. Buzz Cargo commercial vehicle, the Transporter and Caravelle shuttle version.

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles will continue to ensure the vehicles possess the DNA of the T1 in terms of design and layout.
