- Jeep will unveil a third-generation Compass in the spring
- The new Compass is designed around the STLA Medium platform
- Multiple powertrain types are planned, including plug-in hybrid and fully electric options
A new Jeep Compass will be unveiled this spring and, depending on the market, will offer the choice of hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and electric powertrains.
The reveal will take place at a location in Europe, Jeep announced on Tuesday, with sales in that region expected to start later this year.
Jeep announced last fall that sales in other markets, including North America, will start in 2026, though preparations for the production of the new Compass at Jeep parent company Stellantis’ Brampton Assembly Plant in Canada were paused last month. The pause was due to Jeep reevaluating the vehicle’s powertrain strategy for North America, though it isn’t clear whether this will result in a delay of the sales launch here.
Production of the new Compass will also take place at a Stellantis plant in Melfi, Italy, which Jeep, in its Tuesday announcement, said remains on track to start this year.

The new Compass, which represents the third generation of the nameplate, will ride on Stellantis’ STLA Medium platform designed for compact cars. Jeep said there will be e-Hybrid, e-Hybrid plug-in, and fully electric options. Drive will be to the front wheels as standard, though some models will come with all-wheel drive, either as standard or available.
Fellow Stellantis brand Opel last year unveiled a redesigned Grandland compact crossover based on the STLA Medium platform, a vehicle that offers gas, plug-in hybrid, and electric powertrains. In the electric version, the biggest battery has a capacity of 98 kWh, and the same may be true for the electric Compass.
The current Compass has been on sale since the 2017 model year and is the third top-selling vehicle at Jeep, behind the Wrangler and the leading Grand Cherokee. Despite its age, Compass sales in the U.S. grew 16% last year to reach 111,697 units.
