Automotive warranty specialists, Warranty Solutions Group (WSG) has today revealed the UK’s 20 most reliable used cars for 2024.
The findings are based on a sample of 5,000 vehicle repair claims paid by the company between 1 January and 31 December 2024 across all classes of used car. To ensure a fair analysis, the data excluded any models with less than 300 sales across WSG’s dealer network.
The Honda Jazz took the crown as most reliable, with an impressively low claim rate of just 2.60%. (See full table below).
The top three most common claims for the Jazz were starter motors / solenoids averaging £303.88, battery replacements (£284.95) and air conditioning compressors (£701.09).
The Toyota Yaris came a close second with a claim rate of 2.94%. The most common issues with the Yaris were air conditioning compressors averaging £451.72), concentric slave cylinders (£355.85), and batteries (£422.66).
The Volkswagen T-Roc sat in third place with a claim rate of 3.05%. The top three top issues with the T-Roc were ignition coils averaging £174.24, air conditioning condensers (£372.85) and water pumps (£381.94).
Sitting at the bottom of the top 20 most reliable used cars is the Hyundai i10 with a claim rate of 7.19%.
The top three problems facing owners were revealed to be air conditioning compressors (£534.96), starter motors /solenoids (£289.19) and steering column joints and bearings (£1,773.06).
Martin Binnee, operations director of WSG, said: “Brands like Toyota, Honda, and Volkswagen continue to set the standard for reliability, with standout models such as the Jazz, Yaris, and T-ROC.”
