Chrysler Halcyon concept headed to production, CEO confirms

Chrysler last year presented the sleek Halcyon concept, an electric four-door that looks more like it was designed by Porsche than the folks in Auburn Hills.

At its reveal, Chrysler said the concept showed elements that may feature on upcoming vehicles, like the next evolution of Stow ‘n Go seats plus new battery technology.

Now the company plans a production version of the concept itself. In an interview with CNBC published on Jan. 6, Chrysler brand CEO Christine Feuell said the Halcyon concept is headed for production, without providing a timeline.

A Chrysler spokesman later confirmed to Motor Authority that a production version is in the works, but that the company has nothing more to add at this time.

The Halcyon features a coupe-like body style with four doors, including coach doors at the rear. The styling of any production version will likely be toned down significantly, though will still likely retain the sleek coupe-like profile.

Chrysler is today part of the 14-brand Stellantis fold, and while the brand has languished for years with a limited lineup, leading to rumors it may be axed or spun off, Feuell told CNBC that Chrysler has a bright future and is receiving investment for new product.

In addition to the production version of the Halcyon concept, Chrysler is working on a large SUV as well as a redesign for its sole product currently available, a minivan that is offered in Voyager and Pacific guises. It isn’t clear whether the new Chryslers will be offered exclusively as EVs, or still have the option of a gas engine, either as a standalone power unit or in combination with a hybrid system.

Chrysler’s sleek Airflow electric crossover concept unveiled in 2022 isn’t bound for production, according to the CNBC report.
