Thurlow Nunn overhauls vehicle movements between showrooms

Thurlow Nunn is overhauling the way it moves vehicles across its 15 showroom network.

The award winning dealer group, ranked 70 in the Motor Trader Top 200 Dealer Groups, has completed a three-month pilot which it said identified “significant” cost per mile and efficiency improvements for its business.

The top 100 dealer group, which operates in Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Suffolk, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire, used Jigcar tools to optimise vehicle movements, cutting costs and mileage.

Elliott Perks, CEO of Jigcar, said: “An issue common to many dealer groups is the use of one driver to move a vehicle from A to B and another from B to A, meaning they cross each other on the road and then use public transport to get back.

“What we’re doing with Thurlow Nunn is matching those movements up, so one driver does both movements: saving hourly wages and eliminating public transport costs,” said Perks.

Simon Gylls, director of Thurlow Nunn, said: “Working with Jigcar is like having an on-demand automotive logistics expert.

“The platform delivers real-time intelligence on our network, but it’s also backed by real people who add depth to the data and offer expert advice on how to improve our logistics set-up.

“We’re already seeing tangible efficiencies and now have much better visibility into our logistics performance,” he said.
