Omoda and Jaecoo boss highlights the importance of dealers for customers

At the SMMT International Automotive Summit, held yesterday at IET London Savoy Place, panellists discussed developments in technology and the customer journey.

Victor Zhang, UK Country Director at Omoda & Jaecoo UK, highlighted the fact that customers are open to new brands and want a high-tech experience when it comes to the vehicle they choose.

He said: “They want high tech and a different experience. We offer the affordable premium experience. In terms of the definition of this, people here are all looking for a premium experience in terms of the specs and features.

“The car itself, people love it not just because of the technology, but also the shape and design, and also the new EV powertrains or hybrid technology. All of these things combined drive the consumer forward.”

Technology is shaping the purchase, ease and safety of driving, ownership, maintenance and repair of vehicles.

The panel also spoke about the customer journey with regards to online and offline touchpoints from the initial consideration of making a purchase to purchasing a car.

Zhang added: “In terms of the digital omnichannels, at Omoda and Jaecoo we believe that it is a combination of both. It is not just online, people also want in person contact at a showroom.

“This is a very important period for us so we do have physical showrooms across the country.”
